Rosatom Withdraws One Hundred Fifty Staff from Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Facility

(MENAFN) Russia’s state nuclear company, Rosatom, has evacuated an additional 150 specialists from the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran, according to reports. Company head Alexey Likhachev confirmed that this second phase of the evacuation was carried out overnight between March 10 and 11.

“The nuclear specialists crossed the border with Armenia and are now heading home,” Likhachev said.

He expressed gratitude to the Russian Foreign Ministry, security forces, and the authorities of both Iran and Armenia for their assistance in facilitating the operation.

Likhachev noted that approximately 450 Russian personnel remain at the plant for now. He explained that these staff members cannot leave at this stage due to operational needs, including the requirement to maintain critical equipment at the facility.
